Already Unmade (2016)

Already Unamde is a performance conceived by choreographer Andros Zins-Browne. It has been presented as a solo durational performance (Yvonne Lambert Gallery, April 24th, 2016, Berlin), a group exhibition (Repetition, Villa Empain/ Boghossian Foundation, May 12-August 21st, 2016, Brussels), and as a workshop for young professional dancers (Impulstanz Festival, July 24-29, 2016, Vienna).

The performance is conceived as a public rehearsal, where Zins-Browne practices the remixing, overlapping, extending and warping of his own repertoire, attempting to ‘unmake’ a personal history of choreography.

Interwoven with jokes and stories on notions of history, speed, progress, and 'the new,' Already Unmade reverses the order in which choreography is normally created. Zins-Browne begins with his own finished, ‘choreographic objects’ and subjects them to ensuing processes where they begin to unravel.

Echoing the swirls of time-traveling dances, thoughts around these topics are performed in song, conversations initiated with the public, stories, and fragments of thoughts and ruminations that punctuate the ongoing flows of movement.
